History

In September 1984, Jim Johnson, Ron Ayers and Joe Matthews, along with their three assistants, opened the doors of Johnson, Ayers & Matthews, P.L.C., based on the belief that they had the talent, integrity and ambition necessary to be successful in their own practice. 

During the last 25 years, we have continued to thrive, and we have grown to become one of the largest law firms in the western part of Virginia. Although our insurance defense practice remains a large part of who we are and what we do, we continue to develop and expand into many complementary practice areas, such as real estate, construction, corporate/commercial, landlord tenant, and, most recently, Alternative Dispute Resolution.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the firm, and as we celebrate this milestone, we believe the best is yet to come.
