Personal Bio:
Bill's best career decision was an easy one when he joined his friends and mentors Jim Johnson, Ron Ayers, Joe Matthews, and John Eure in the early days of the firm.

Bill has tried over 150 jury trials in state and federal courts all over Virginia, involving a wide range of areas of civil litigation: commercial disputes, product liability and personal injury. While most of his work is for the defense, Bill has also represented plaintiffs in selected cases. He was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2017.

Bill's career has included the privilege of teaching Trial Advocacy at his alma mater, Washington & Lee School of Law, for 16 years, serving two terms as National Counsel for Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society, and as president of the Ted Dalton American Inn of Court. His volunteer work for Washington & Lee has included serving as President of the Alumni Association and as Chair of the Annual Fund.

His time away from the office is spent with family and in enjoying the outdoors—often chasing fish somewhere.
